Position Summary: |
AMENDED Position Summary: The Diabetes Staff Nurse Educator will provide professional nursing and diabetes education to nurses as well as develop, implement, and evaluate the diabetes nursing regimen for prescribed diabetes treatment. This position will also prepare training for OSH nurses in all aspects of diabetes care and work with the Regional and Diabetes Staff Nurse Supervisor to identify nurses in need of support and diabetes training. The Diabetes Staff Nurse Educator will identify agency-covered schools without a regular nurse and provide direct support to parents and school personnel. The Diabetes Staff Nurse Educator will serve as a resource to nurses and students and will play an instrumental role in developing policies and procedures as well as training. Performs related work.
Reports to: Diabetes Supervisor of Nurses
Direct Reports: N/A
Key Relationships: Works closely with OSH nurses, regional supervising nurses, school administrative staff, including paraprofessionals, the Principal and Assistant Principal; students needing diabetes care/seeking diabetes services; insulin and diabetes technology representatives; consults with parents/guardians regarding diabetes management and treatment goals and other recommendations to enhance a student’s functional ability within the classroom and home setting.

Salary: $71,540 (Internal candidates who are selected for this position and who currently hold comparable or less senior positions within the DOE will not make less than their current salary.)
